The adventure begins from Sundarijal and enters the serene wilderness of Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park, where dense forests, waterfalls, and peaceful trails set the tone for an immersive hiking experience. The first stop, Chisapani, is a quiet ridge-top settlement known for its breathtaking sunrise and sunset views over the Langtang and Ganesh Himal ranges.
From Chisapani, the trail continues through beautiful rural landscapes, passing traditional villages, terraced farmlands, and rhododendron-covered forests on the way to Nagarkot. This scenic stretch offers a peaceful walking experience, gradually opening up to wider Himalayan vistas.

Day 1: Drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal and Hike to Chisapani
Your journey begins with a short and scenic drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal, a popular gateway to hiking trails on the outskirts of the valley. The drive takes around 1 to 1.5 hours, offering a quick transition from city life to a more peaceful natural setting.
From Sundarijal, the trek officially starts as you enter the lush wilderness of Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park. The trail climbs through dense forests, stone steps, small waterfalls, and charming Tamang villages. This section is both refreshing and moderately uphill, making it a great warm-up for the trek ahead.
After approximately 5 to 6 hours of hiking, you will reach Chisapani, a peaceful ridge-top village known for its stunning Himalayan views. From here, on clear days, you can enjoy panoramic sights of the Langtang range and surrounding peaks, along with a beautiful sunset over the hills.
Day 2: Trek from Chisapani to Nagarkot
After a peaceful night in Chisapani, the second day begins with a refreshing morning and Himalayan views over the surrounding ridgelines. The trail continues through the scenic landscapes of Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park area and nearby rural settlements, offering a beautiful mix of nature and local village life.
The route gradually descends and then undulates through lush forests, terraced farmlands, and traditional villages. Along the way, trekkers can experience the peaceful countryside of the Kathmandu Valley rim, with occasional viewpoints showcasing distant Himalayan peaks.
The walk typically takes around 6 to 7 hours, depending on pace and stops. As you approach the final stretch, the landscape opens up, revealing wider panoramic views and rolling hills leading toward the famous hill station.
By late afternoon, you arrive at Nagarkot, one of the most renowned viewpoints near Kathmandu. Known for its spectacular sunsets and sweet ping Himalayan panoramas, Nagarkot is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the evening mountain glow.
Day 3: Trek to Changunarayan Temple and Drive Back to Kathmandu
Wake up early in Nagarkot to enjoy a spectacular sunrise over the Himalayas, with golden light illuminating peaks such as Langtang, Dorje Lakpa, and, on clear days even distant views of Everest.
After breakfast, begin your final day of hiking with a scenic downhill trek toward the historic Changunarayan Temple. The trail passes through charming villages, terraced fields, and peaceful rural landscapes, offering a gentle and culturally rich walking experience. This section is especially beautiful as it blends nature with traditional Nepalese countryside life.
Upon arrival at Changunarayan, explore the ancient temple complex, one of the oldest Hindu temples in Nepal and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The site is known for its intricate stone carvings, historical significance, and peaceful hilltop setting.
After the visit, continue with a short drive back to Kathmandu, marking the end of your memorable 3-day Chisapani–Nagarkot hiking adventure filled with nature, culture, and Himalayan views.
